What are YOU doing for Lent?

The season of Lent is just around the corner!  Are you ready?  

This year at St. Anne’s, we’re inviting our supporters to put an age-old twist on their Lenten practices.  

Instead of only giving things up, consider sharing what you save through penance with those in need, keeping your friends at St. Anne’s in mind.

That’s what almsgiving is really about…it has a long history in the Christian tradition.

So…what do you need to do to participate?

Here’s a simple checklist:

  • Prayerfully consider a Lenten penance that is appropriate for YOU (See list of ideas below).
  • Beginning on Ash Wednesday, March 5th, 2025, start it.
  • Keep track of what you save (via grocery receipts, credit card bills, etc.) throughout the Lenten season. You might post a running list on your refrigerator door or make a note on your phone.
  • At Easter (April 20th), donate the savings to help the residents at St. Anne’s. This can be done online or via check/mail (St. Anne’s, 524 N. 17th St. Grand Forks, ND 58203)

Ideas for Almsgiving practices (things to give up this Lent) include:

  • Streaming subscriptions
  • Cranking up your thermostat
  • Sugary or salty snacks
  • Starbucks or your favorite drink
  • Eating out/ordering in
  • Online shopping
  • Unneeded clutter

Probably, most of us have experienced the reality of a coworker deciding to move on or retiring.  It’s part of life.  

Our staff and residents at St. Anne’s are experiencing this, too.  ​

In fact, we have ​s​ome current job openings​ (more than normal) that we wanted to share with you​.​

We would greatly ​a​ppreciate you spreading the word to anyone who might want to join our caring team and work with us in providing a safe and loving home for our residents.​

Introducing our New Administrator

We’re sorry that it’s a little late, but we are happy to take this opportunity to introduce our new administrator here at St. Anne’s.  

Below you will find a little Q&A with Gary Simeone to help you get to know him better.

Can you tell us a little about yourself?  
I have lived with my wife and 4 children in Grand Forks since 1998.
 
What was your educational and/or occupational background before coming to St. Anne’s?
MBA as well as BSBA in Accounting.
Director of  Finance for 18 years, 10 years for Special Olympics of North Dakota.
 
You have been working in the business office here for almost a year.  What brought you to St. Anne’s?
I was attracted to the mission of helping others and the Christian based philosophy of St Anne’s.
 
What are your goals and hopes for St. Anne’s moving forward?
To expand our mission outreach to serve more residents in Grand Forks and the surrounding communities.
 
Is there anything else you would like to add?
With our dedicated staff and dedication of the BOD from the Franciscan Sisters of Dillingen…..The future is bright for St. Anne’s Guest Home.

Palm Sunday at St. Anne’s

We had a beautiful Mass this morning.  We are grateful to Fr. Chacko for offering Mass for us, as well as for the visitors and members of our St. Anne’s family who helped make it special.

You are welcome to join us for the remaining Holy Week Liturgies here at St. Annes:

Monday and Wednesday: 9 a.m. Mass
(Tuesday Mass is still uncertain.)

Holy Thursday: 4 p.m. Mass of the Lord’s Supper

Good Friday: Stations of the Cross at noon;
Solemn Liturgy (Good Friday Service) at 3 p.m.

No Easter Vigil

Easter Sunday Mass: 9 a.m.

Pretzels at St. Anne’s
